In recent updates from the Himachal Assembly, the six MLAs who cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections were disqualified by the Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Thursday under the anti-defection law. “I declare that the six people cease to be the members of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly with immediate effect,” the speaker said.
The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress barely managed to avoid the crisis caused by the defeat of Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha Elections by BJP’s Harsh Mahajan due to cross-voting by 6 MLAs from the Congress, leaving the ruling Congress government red-faced.
