The Rajya Sabha elections commenced today morning at 9 am with 41 out of 56 candidates already securing their seats virtually, unopposed in the Upper House due to lack of Opposition. The seats in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh will now witness a fierce battle for the remaining seats. Polling is being held for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Karnataka and 1 in Himachal Pradesh from 9 am to 4 pm and the counting will begin from 5 pm onwards. The results will formally be announced later today.
