In a bizarre incident, a man from Delhi reportedly swallowed 39 coins of denominations of Rs. 1,2 and 5 and 37 magnets of various shapes were removed from the patient’s stomach who believed that Zinc would help in body building. The man, who was suffering from psychiatric illness, was brought into the emergency ward of Sri Ganga Ram Hospital with complaints of repeated vomiting and abdominal pain for more than 20 days. The accumulation of coins and magnets caused intestinal obstruction and erosion of the intestinal walls due to magnetic attraction, requiring surgical intervention.
