Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh who has been accused by several women in Sandeshkhali of land grabbing and sexual harassment is allegedly in the custody of the state police since last night. BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari took to ‘X’ on Wednesday, claiming that the main accused in the Sandeshkhali case, Shahjahan Sheikh has been in talks with the police to negotiate the availability of five-star facilities behind bars post his arrest. However, these accusations were dismissed by the TMC leader Santanu Sen who called these claims baseless and a tactic to disturb the law and order in the state. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court also interjected to clarify that not only the West Bengal Police but the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) could arrest Shahjahan. The Calcutta High Court raised its concern over interference in the case by the police.
