Trinamool Congress leader Ajit Maity was arrested on Monday morning by the West Bengal police following the allegations levied against him in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas. Maity, an aide of Sheikh Shahjahan, was removed as the head of the party’s local unit on Sunday over his involvement in the land grabbing and extortion case.
